For the old world look we chose to incorporate we painted the stage walls gold and shadowed in shades of brown and green -creating a mottled map effect. Each week we added a dotted “road” to the next message title/dedtination. We stenciled the road and used a cricut computer to print the titles.
One large compass was suspended from the ceiling stageright. For this stage compass we added a longer stem at the bottom, giving the added visual suggestion of the cross.
Under the screen we hung a large piece of canvas suspended to look like a scroll, with ODYSSEY letters -a pattern fit from the enlarged graphic font- and cut from Styrofoam, spraypainted with metallic browns.
Large traveling trunks, candles and globes completed this sepia, old world stage effect.
