creating the road less traveled

TRthe worship design team as well as the unpaid stage makeover team were extremely busy this week as both worked hard to prepare for the new series “the road less traveled.”  madison freeman sketched out the wall mural/design and the guys added split rail fence accents, complete w/ woodsy weeds and mason jar votive accents.  10+ artist-servants painted, sawed, hammered, gathered, cleaned, cooked meals, and finessed the fresh-feeling stage set.

meanwhile the worship design team created a signature first-weekend experience… everything from larry norman’s “one way” (awesome job, amante) with robert frost’s classic poem (shout out to chastity) to dave’s “counterculture” message – including a seinfeld video clip and digital story of counterculture heroes rusty and renae eshelman. great job, everybody! can’t wait to pull together another weekend soon 🙂

Just seeing the pictures of this set brings a sense of both peace and anticipation. I love it and as I see all of the candles I am wondering if you are using things in your worship design from the “Ancient-Future” worship concepts.

    hi debbie,
tell me more about the “ancient-future” worship concepts you are talking about. i am thinking it refers to the intention of being relevant while incorporating natural and historic elements such as candles. we do this on a regular basis. tell me more about your experience.

Beautiful sets. We are considering purchasing a large school building. We would hold worship in the gymnasium. We want to use the gym as a worship center, fellowship hall, and during the week as a full court gym. How can we transform the space for worship? It has to be super flexible. Do you know any resources to help us in our design planning? Any ideas at all would be helpful. Thanks.

Hey David, good news, just today we have nearly completed a stage build-out in our large gym/student activity center. I’m going to post pics in a new blog this weekend. We did a few things you might be able to implement into your setting.

My husband and i have done consulting on worship spaces/makeovers and if the blog alone doesn’t do it for you perhaps we could connect via email and be of further help. to be continued…
